Restroom trailer or porta potties for a wedding?

A restroom trailer is the better choice for a wedding with a garden hose, a 20-amp outlet and a level 8-by-12-foot spot nearby. A 2-stall trailer handles about 100 guests over a 5-hour reception. Venues without power or water do better with deluxe flushing units, which carry their own water.

What does a restroom trailer need at the venue?

A restroom trailer needs four things at the venue: a garden hose that reaches a spigot, a dedicated 20-amp 120-volt outlet within 100 feet, a level spot about 8 by 12 feet plus room for steps, and a truck path at least 10 feet wide. Soft fields after rain can block the truck.

Walk the path with your venue before booking. Barn venues in Hall, Buffalo and Hamilton counties often have the outlet inside the barn; a heavy-duty extension cord rated for outdoor use solves most gaps. See restroom trailer specs and our barn wedding restroom checklist.

How many restrooms does a wedding need?

A wedding needs about 1 toilet for every 50 guests over 4 hours, plus 1 more for every 4 when there is an open bar. A 150-guest reception with a bar over 5 hours needs 5 toilets. That is a 3-stall trailer plus 2 flushing units, or 5 flushing units.

Use the porta potty calculator for your count. If older guests are coming, add one wheelchair-accessible unit with a flat floor.

Wedding restroom questions

How far ahead should we book wedding restrooms?

Book a restroom trailer 6 to 8 weeks before a May through September wedding. Flushing units need about 2 to 4 weeks. Fall harvest weekends fill fast around Grand Island because barn venues book back to back. Once your date is set, a deposit-free hold keeps the unit for you.

Can a restroom trailer run on a generator?

A restroom trailer can run on a generator that supplies a steady 20-amp, 120-volt circuit. Most 3,500-watt or larger inverter generators work. A garden-hose water source is still needed, or we can deliver with the tank pre-filled for a shorter event.

Is an attendant included?

Restroom trailers are delivered clean and stocked, and they need no attendant for a typical 5-hour reception. For weddings of 250 or more guests, we can arrange a mid-event restock visit. Ask when you book.

Do the trailers have air conditioning and heat?

Our restroom trailers have climate control for summer heat and cool fall evenings, plus interior lighting, flushing toilets, running-water sinks and mirrors. They need the 20-amp outlet to run those features.

Can the units be kept out of our photos?

We place units behind the barn, beside a tree line or around the corner from the ceremony site. Guests still need to find them in the dark, so plan a lit path or signs. Tell the driver where photos will be taken.

Our venue has no running water. What are our options?

Without running water, choose deluxe flushing units with sinks, which carry their own fresh water. Another option is a restroom trailer delivered with a full fresh-water tank for a one-day event. Add a hand-washing station near the bar or buffet.
