Call now (402) 313-6717How many porta potties does a construction site need?
A construction site with 20 or fewer workers needs at least 1 toilet under OSHA 29 CFR 1926.51. Sites with more than 20 workers need 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal for every 40 workers. For a 40-hour week with weekly cleaning, we recommend 1 unit for every 10 workers so tanks do not overfill.
| Workers on site | OSHA minimum (29 CFR 1926.51 Table D-1) | Our recommendation, weekly cleaning |
|---|---|---|
| 1–10 | 1 toilet | 1 unit |
| 11–20 | 1 toilet | 2 units |
| 21–40 | 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers | 3–4 units |
| 41–80 | 2 toilet seats and 2 urinals | 5–8 units |
| 200+ | 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 50 workers | 1 unit per 10 workers, or twice-weekly cleaning |

How does 28-day job-site billing work?
Job-site porta potties bill in 28-day cycles, not calendar months. Each cycle includes the unit and one cleaning visit per week. The cycle renews automatically until you call for pickup. There is no contract and no penalty for ending early. Billing stops on the pickup date.
- Delivery: included inside Grand Island. Outlying towns pay a one-time trip charge on the first cycle only.
- Short jobs: a 3-day job and a 28-day job cost the same cycle price. For a few days, the event package is cheaper.
- Removal: no separate removal fee. Pickup is part of the price.
- Statements: one statement per account, with a line for each site.
Prices for each unit are in the porta potty cost guide.

What does weekly job-site cleaning include?
Weekly job-site cleaning pumps the waste tank, scrubs and sanitizes every surface, refills the deodorizing blue charge and restocks toilet paper and hand sanitizer. The visit happens on the same weekday each week, so crews know when the unit will be fresh. Extra visits can be added before inspections or busy pours.
- Pump the waste tank fully.
- Pressure-rinse and wipe down the seat, urinal, walls and floor.
- Recharge the tank with fresh water and deodorizer.
- Restock toilet paper and sanitizer.
- Check the door, latch and vent, and re-level the unit if the ground shifted.
Where should a porta potty go on a job site?
A job-site porta potty belongs on level, firm ground within about 30 feet of where the service truck can park. Keep it clear of excavation edges, crane swing paths and material drop zones. On open lots and in spring wind, we stake the unit. In winter, face the door south, out of the north wind.
Mark the spot with a lath or spray paint when you order. If the unit must sit behind a locked gate, give us the code. Read where to place a porta potty and how winter changes job-site units.
Construction porta potty questions
Can you clean a job-site unit twice a week?
Twice-weekly cleaning is available on Grand Island sites and on route days for nearby towns. Each extra visit is a flat add-on charge. On large crews, a second unit often costs less than a second weekly visit. We will price both options.
Can you move the unit to my next job site?
We move units between your job sites on a regular route day. Call with the new address a day ahead. A move inside Grand Island is a small flat fee, and the 28-day cycle keeps running without a new delivery charge.
What happens if a unit gets tipped or vandalized?
Call us right away and we send a truck to stand, pump and clean the unit. The renter is responsible for damage beyond normal wear and for cleanup after a tip-over, which we bill at cost. Staking units on windy or open sites lowers the risk.
Can job-site units be locked?
Every unit has a hasp, and you can add your own padlock to keep the public out after hours. Leave us a key or the combination so the service driver can get in on cleaning day. Units in a locked yard need a gate code or a contact name.
I only need a unit for a 3-day concrete pour. Is there a shorter rate?
Job-site units bill one 28-day cycle, even for short jobs, because delivery and pickup make up most of the cost. For a weekend or a few days, ask for the event package. It includes up to 5 days with no weekly cleaning.
Can I put several job sites on one account?
Builders and contractors can run every site on one account with one monthly statement. Each line on the statement shows the site address, the units placed there and its service day, so job costing stays simple.
